xTAG®

xTAG Respiratory Viral Panel: Comprehensive. Reliable. Fast.

When and How to Use

The sensitivity, comprehensiveness and speed of the xTAG RVP panel give it many applications in clinical practice, including:

  • As an alternative to a rapid test
  • As a complement to a rapid test:
    • If rapid test was negative, it could be a false negative or a different virus
    • If rapid test was positive, there could still be co-infection, and false positives with rapid tests do occur.
  • At hospital admission (ideally as part of the standard protocol) for inpatients with fever of unknown origin and/or respiratory symptoms
  • As an aid in the detection of 2009 Influenza A/H1N1
  • For identifying and containing outbreaks in a hospital or long-term care facility
  • In immunocompromised or immunosuppressed patients with fever and/or respiratory symptoms
  • For public health surveillance
