to give you peace of mind
When you or someone you care about is sick, it can be tough to focus on what you need to know – especially when it’s your child who’s suffering. Here are some questions you might want to ask your doctor if you suspect the flu or another respiratory infection. You can also download this list as a PDF file that you can print out and take with you to your doctor’s office.
If you might have the flu:
- Do you think I have the flu?
- Are there any other viruses I could have?
- What tests are available to figure out what’s making me or my loved one sick?
- How long will I have to wait for a result?
- Will the results be reliable?
- Will the test tell me about all the possible viruses I could have?
- Are there any other symptoms I should watch out for?
- What can I do to avoid infecting my family, friends, and co-workers?
- Based on the cause of my infection, what medications are available?
- What other steps (other than medications) can I take to feel better?
- If you have not been vaccinated) How and when can I get a flu shot?
